Toward the end of 2019, the Key Signature team decided to come up with a way to tell our audience about some of the great relationships we have with our musicians and how we became so close-knit. The bulk of our social media output is often focused on the event professional, although the professional musician is equally important. Check out some of these defining moments that brought us closer to the talented musicians who we consider to be a part of our Key Signature Family.

Jeff Brown

We probably get the most “Thank You’s” from our friend Jeff Brown. Jeff and I have probably known each other for well over a decade. I think we were both trying to crack our way into the Charlotte music scene around the same time.

Jeff seems to be always working on his craft and trying to be the best guitarist and vocalist he can be. Anytime he’s in project mode we get a message saying “check out this new video” or “do you think this is something you can use?” He reminds us of why we do what we do and the impact our efforts have on musician’s lives and careers. He always says “I couldn’t do what I do if it wasn’t for you guys”. Thanks, Jeff! That is always nice to hear.

Matt Miller

Key Signature’s relationships with our artists is based on the mutual trust and respect we have with one another. This typically takes a little while to develop, but Matt Miller aka “Shorty” with the Flat Tire Trio had an immediate trust with our company. We started working together, and during the process of adding their artist profile on our website, they made Key Signature the contact on their website without hesitation. This was a huge sign of respect towards our company, and really made Flat Tire stand out to us.

Flat Tire is so easy to work with, and they always make our clients happy. We have a great partnership, and Matt is always willing to accommodate whatever crazy requests we throw his way. As we’ve continued to build trust and respect with each other, our partnership has only grown stronger, and we always love when we have an opportunity to work together. 1. Reverend O and the Barnburners
If your client wants to Rock & Roll All Nite, consider Rev. J’Michael Peeples

J’Michael Peeples was one of the first Key Signature artists I saw after starting my internship with the company in May 2017. You could tell immediately that he had a true passion for music – he did everything he could to play until the last second before an insane thunderstorm hit at Romare Bearden Park. Soon after I became a full time employee at KSE, J’Michael actually moved from Columbia, SC to Charlotte because of how often we booked him here in the queen city. He understood that the relationship between Key Signature & himself as an artist was a two way street, which build a really strong foundation of trust.

From him being a go-to artist for many of our clients, to us meeting up in NoDa for a drink, to him always showing up to support us and other artists at events, we know J’Michael Peeples will always have our back. He’s a true example of what the Key Signature Family means.

 

April Dean of Deans’ Duets

One of the reasons we have such great relationships with our clients is because we work with artists that we trust, and who we can rely on to always make sure our clients are happy.

April Dean of Deans’ Duetsis a perfect example of an artist that represents this trust. We’ve thrown some crazy things at April over the last few years – from an ensemble playing between isolated columns of a balcony where her musicians couldn’t see each other, to a last minute booking where we needed a string trio to play pop music to choreographed dancing without a rehearsal. She’s always come through for us, she’s reliable, responsive, and has a great team of musicians that she works with. She even made the drive into Charlotte for our last artist meet & greet in order to continue to build a relationship with our team and the other artists we work with.

Jennifer Siebenaler

I met Jennifer Siebenaler years ago at her own birthday party. A friend of mine was friends with her now husband and somehow I got invited to celebrate with her. Now we are all friends! That night she invited me to her church. She told me she was the music director and that my friend was the drummer in the church band. She said it was a relaxed set up and very welcoming. I went and was blown away by her talent.
As time went by I discovered that Jen could play multiple instruments. I started to wonder, “What can’t she play?” We’ve been working together for 6 or 7 years now. Need an anthem singer….call Jen! Need solo keys and vocals….call Jen! Need dueling pianos….call Jen! The list just goes on and on.
The partnership got even stronger when she became an event professional on the buyer side booking other musicians. She could easily call up her own industry contacts, but she sees value in our day to day operations. She is one of the few people we work with that understands both sides of what we do here at Key Signature Entertainment, and we appreciate her for that! Thanks Jen!

Hannibal- Unique Inspirational Theater

We love our magicians here at KS. But we can hardly call some of them that, because they are really so much more. We’ve been working with Chris Hannibal, better known as Hannibal, for a long time now. This Charlotte native has used his talent and personality to become one of the top magicians in the WORLD. Check this out!

 

Top 10 Magicians in North America!

Have you heard???  Charlotte’s very own, unique inspirational magic artist, Chris Hannibal, will be representing North America in the World Championship of Magic in July 2015!!!

Chris Hannibal has been enchanting us with his unique, close up magic tricks and inspirational theater shows in Charlotte for over 20 years!  Hannibal is talented and fortunate enough to travel the world with his craft.  Spending a lot of time living out of suitcases and hotel rooms, he endearingly documents his adventures as #gypsyboots and loves every bit of it.

Traveling the world being as experienced and talented as he is, Hannibal has made many friends along the way.  About a year ago, a good friend and FISM Grand Prix Champion, Shawn Farquhar offered his opinion that Hannibal needed more recognition from fellow magicians and suggested that FISM was just the place for it.   After watching Hannibal’s ‘Silver Memories” act, he felt that the act was beautiful and worthy of the award (See sample of “Silver Memories” here: http://youtu.be/S6zTyzyUlxE ).

For those of us outside of the magical world, FISM is THE organization that brings together the world’s best magicians in a competition for the most prestigious title.  FISM, Fédération Internationale des Sociétés Magiques, has been in existence since 1948 and consists of both national and international magic societies which are subdivided into 6 continental divisions: Africa, Asia, Europe, Latin America, North America, and Oceania.

Hannibal readily submitted a sample video of one of his close up magic shows along with over 200 other close up magicians.  He carried on his gypsyboots life until receiving a phone call inviting him to proceed with the interview process.  The FISM organization was tasked with narrowing down the 200 gifted magicians to a total of24.  Part of the process was completing very intense interviews with the head of the contest committee.   FISM was in search for not only the talent and entertainment, but the heart and soul of each presentation.  The 24 best magicians were invited to St. Louis, MO to compete for 7 slots available to North America in the world Championship next summer.  Hannibal moved on in the competition as one of the 24 magicians to compete for FISM North America.

Earlier this month, FISM held its FISM North America Competition.  The four long, competitive days complete with unbelievable talent was worth this incredible journey because Hannibal was awarded one of the 7 slots!  Hannibal says, “Support and inspiration from family, friends, and respected colleagues motivated me, and while you can be inspired by many things, you HAVE to motivate yourself, so that’s what I did”.

We look forward to following Hannibal’s gypsy boots journey to FISM World Championship next summer!  If you haven’t attended a Chris Hannibal show or motivational seminar, you absolutely need to! Who doesn’t want to witness one of the top 10 magicians of North America?!
